Ok, a quick update of where we are with the new Little Fish Big Pond album.
We now have all the drum tracks and bass tracks recorded. Martin recorded the drums at Neil Cavanagh’s Old Barn Studios in Hildenborough before Easter and I recorded the basslines here at Carrot Cottage last week.
The next step is to get Daren over to record acoustic guitar and lead vocals (hopefully this week), then Craig will come over to lay down some electric guitar (and more vocals).
Once that’s all done, we’ll be heading over to Lo-Tek Studios in the Ashdown Forest, and working with producer Andy Organ (Bombay Monkey, Sound Sanctuary, Origami Dinosaur, Mr Thing, etc) to mix everything down. Then it will be back to Carrot Cottage for mastering, aiming for a release date some time in July.
This might all sound a bit piecemeal, but it’s not really. The original guide tracks were recorded here at Carrot Cottage, and all we’re doing now is overdubbing the individual instruments & vocals to get as good a sound and performance as possible. Hopefully by working this way, we’ll keep the feel and integrity of the original recordings.
So that’s where we are right now. If anyone wants to hear the new material, we have a couple of gigs coming up at the White Hart in Wadhurst on Sat 21st April, and my 45th birthday gig at the Beau Nash in Tunbridge Wells on Saturday 28th April. Come on down!
