Three Looks for Shower Curtains

by Robert Lawson on October 5, 2010

These days, as much emphasis is given to designing your bathroom as is given to any other major rooms in your home. With large expos being held that feature tens of thousands of bathroom innovations, design elements and unique products, it’s no wonder that people have caught the bug of designing their bathroom. Shower curtains are one major design aspect of any bathroom and it is the best way to change the entire look of the space, while spending the least. Here are three new shower curtain looks that are simple, available in most retailers and usually affordable.

Traditional

Assuming the shower area or bathtub has a liner and two shower curtain rods, a lot of people like to have the traditional curtain, pulled back and held in place on one or both sides with curtain tiebacks. These tie backs are attached to the bathtub or shower door space using a rubber suction cup hook. This style of shower curtain is not recommended for bathrooms that are very small, since it will make the space appear even smaller.

Grommet Tops

The latest craze brought on by an influx of specialty home design stores that have both catalogs and shops in the mall, are shower curtains with large metal grommets in place of the usual holes, through which you feed the shower curtain rings and hang it on a curtain rod. The grommet look is a modern, up to date and fresh alternative to the traditional shower curtain, which can be cumbersome for people who like simple lines in their home.

Novelty Printed

A great way to introduce color and whole new look, without breaking the bank, is by simply choosing a shower curtain that comes in a novelty print that suits your liking. Most people (including designers) prefer to leave everything in the bathroom a neutral white with the only splashes of color coming from accessories such as the shower curtain, bathroom sets, window treatments, towels and rugs and the shower curtain is one way of making a big impact and setting the color theme for the room.

Shower curtains have not always been considered a fashionable design element, but through innovative prints and designs, you can seize the opportunity and have fun with a bathroom basic – making the best of it!
