You don’t have to live in a cold climate to enjoy the features of a fire pit. At nighttime and in the winter, the temperatures in all areas of the world can drop dramatically. To stay warm and comfortable outdoors, many people buy an outdoor heater. Electrically powered models work well, but lack any decorative definition. Fire pits are different in that they provide exceptional warming benefits while looking great at the same time. One of the more easy to use types of fire pits uses propane to create the flames.
Propane is convenient in that it is a clean way to create fire. There are no logs to handle and no mess to clean up afterward. The gas can be controlled with a valve to set the heat exactly how you want it. After connecting the tank to the propane fire pit it becomes fully operational. The flames are generated from a part called the fire bowl. These bowls are made from things like copper and steel, and direct the flames up into the air safely. They also prevent the spread of flames onto nearby objects. Steel fire bowls are typically coated with paint to keep rust from forming.
The bowls are filled with materials like lava rocks to conceal the gas burner. Other things like ceramic logs are used to add realism. Most of these units use a standard sized 20 gallon propane tank, although smaller ones can be used with a special adapter. Using the fire pit at a high level will drain the tank faster.
Fire pits sit on a base usually made of metal. Some units are walled off and covered in artificial rock pieces for looks. Small fire pits can be moved around easily by a single person. Larger ones can be permanently built into an outdoor sitting area.
